What we do

Rural Team Quebec has identified two key issues that will be the focus of their actions, specifically:

  • supporting communities by guiding them in their development and providing concerted and adapted service to meet their needs; and
  • encouraging youth to become involved in and contribute actively to their communities.

Achievements of Rural Team Quebec

  • Organization of information sessions on the Canadian Rural Partnership initiative.
  • Support of four regional Rural Teams that connect federal stakeholders and local partners in their regions in order to:
    • have a common vision of the delivery of appropriate federal services within the region;
    • develop a common vision of the specific issues related to community capacity-building in this region;
    • develop responses to these issues by building the appropriate partnerships; and
    • evaluate the impacts of such an approach on community dynamics.
  • Setting up partnerships in other regions of Quebec between Government of Canada representatives and local proponents of regional development in order to identify the priorities and issues facing rural communities and develop courses of action.
  • Organization of Rural Dialogue sessions in Quebec regions to provide the federal government with a better understanding of the challenges and opportunities of rural Canada, and to help rural communities identify their own issues and influencing government to take into account the rural perspective when developing policies and programs.
  • Organizing events to inform citizens in rural environments about the Government of Canada's programs and services in support of rural community.
