Modernizing
the Fisheries Act
An overhaul of the 138-year-old
Fisheries Act was tabled today by Fisheries and Oceans Minister Loyola
Hearn. The new Act will modernize the way fisheries are managed, and
enshrine conservation measures that protect the aquatic ecosystems upon
which Canadian commercial, Aboriginal and recreational fishers depend.
