The Agri-Food Policy Framework - Food Safety and Quality

On-Farm Implementation Component

The On-Farm Implementation component of the Canadian Food Safety and Quality Program (CFSQP) is a federal government initiative designed to help with the implementation of on-farm food safety systems based on Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) at the farm level. Through the program, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada will provide funding to national producer organizations to help off-set their costs of providing workshops and on-farm support for producers.

How does the program work?

National producer organizations will apply for funding on behalf of all producers of that commodity. National producer organizations, working with their provincial or regional affiliates, will determine what blend of services will best assist producers in implementing their specific food safety system.

To apply, you must contact the national producer organization(s) that are relevant to the commodities you produce.

National Producer Organizations currently participating in the On-Farm Implementation Component:

  • Dairy Farmers of Canada
  • Canadian Cattlemen's Association
  • Chicken Farmers of Canada

For more information, please consult the program brochure.
