Newsroom > Food Recalls and Allergy Alerts ALLERGY ALERTUNDECLARED ALMOND IN CO-OP GOLD BRAND SWISS CHOCOLATE PRODUCTSOTTAWA, December 8, 2006 — The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Interprovincial Cooperative Limited are warning people with allergies to almond protein not to consume the Co-op Gold brand Swiss chocolate products described below. The affected products may contain almond protein which is not declared on the label. All lot codes of the following Co-op Gold brand Swiss chocolate products are affected by this alert.
These products have been distributed in Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia, Yukon, Nunavut and Northwest Territories. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products. Consumption of these products may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to almond protein. The importer, Interprovincial Cooperative Limited, located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, is voluntarily recalling the affected products from the marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
