Edmunds & Son are warning the public not to consume L. Edmunds & Son Canadian Pure Maple Syrup described below because the product may be contaminated with lead. The affected product, L. Edmunds & Son Canadian Pure Maple Syrup is sold in 500 mL, 540 mL, 1 L, 2 L, and 4 L metal containers bearing the following information: L. Edmunds & Son This maple syrup has been distributed in Ontario. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product. Continued exposure to high levels of lead can cause damage to the central nervous system, kidneys, and blood. Children are particularly at risk. The producer, L. Edmunds & Son, R.R. 1, Burks Falls, ON, is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
