Food Safety Risk Analysis


This unit is responsible for:

  • developing Risk Analysis policy and providing scientific and risk management support to food inspection programs;

  • providing scientific support for the development of policy respecting ante-mortem and post-mortem inspection and judgement of animals at slaughter;

  • providing epidemiologic support for development of pilot projects and special surveys;

  • providing international liaison with other food safety agencies to encourage collaboration in food safety risk analysis projects;

  • reviewing international and national data respecting food safety and factors influencing food safety to provide appropriate evidence for development of food safety policies and procedures;

  • reviewing and approving submissions from industry for inclusion of products on the Reference Listing of Accepted Construction Materials, Packaged Materials & Non-Food Chemical Products .
