Organization of the Agriculture and Agri-Food Portfolio


Under the Canadian Food Inspection Agency Act, the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food is responsible for the management and direction of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and its operations.

The Minister has the ultimate responsibility for strategic policy and planning for the Agriculture and Agri-Food Portfolio. He is responsible to Parliament, administratively as well as legislatively, for 37 acts, four of which responsibility is shared with other departments. In addition to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, the Agriculture and Agri-Food Portfolio includes:
