General Information

About Us

The Eastern Cereal and Oilseed Research Centre (ECORC) is located at the Central Experimental Farm, Ottawa. ECORC is one of the 19 research centres of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada that focus on strategic and specialized research of national importance. Thanks to this outstanding network, which connects researchers and the industry across the country, each centre can make its information and expertise readily available at the national level.

Key Facts

More than 80 scientists work in multi-disciplinary teams in collaboration with national and international public and private sector organizations.

Research activities are carried out within teams organized into five sections. Research activities are aligned to support Departmental priorities and the Agriculture Policy Framework (APF).

The Centre holds the largest reference collections of fungi, insects and vascular plants in Canada to support taxonomic research and the protection of Canada's borders from invasive pests.

The Centre houses the Canadian National Soil Database, supports the national soil taxonomy system, and develops applications within the Canadian Soil Information System (CanSIS).
