On October 3, 2002, Agriculture and Agri-Food Minister Lyle Vanclief announced the appointment of Mr. John Core as the new Chairman and C.E.O. of the Canadian Dairy Commission. In November 2005, he was reappointed for a term ending October 6, 2007.
Mr. Core holds a masters degree from the University of Guelph . He has been a lecturer at Ridgetown College in Ontario at the beginning of his career. He then owned and operated a dairy and cash crop farm in Lambton County , Ontario , with his brothers. During his dairy farming years, Mr. Core was a board member for Dairy Farmers of Ontario from 1981 to 2001. He chaired this organization from 1990 to 2001. He was also a member of the board of Dairy Farmers of Canada from 1986 to 2001, acting as Chair between 1999 and 2001.
