Consumption

In the past decade, there has been a significant switch from the consumption of homogenized milk to skimmed and partly skimmed milk. Per capita consumption of homogenized milk and 2% milk dropped 23% from 1993 to 2003 while the consumption of 1% milk and skim milk increased by 56% and 38% respectively during the same period. At the same time, cream's popularity has been on the upswing with per capita consumption increasing by 58% from 1993 to 2003.

In 2003, per capita consumption of cheese was 11.81 kg, yogurt was 6.23 litres, butter was 3.38 kg and ice cream was 9.37 litres.
