Instructions to complete forms for Canadian animal products and by-products returning to Canada (other than edible meat).

The application for the return of Canadian animal products & by-products must be completed by the Canadian importer before the product is shipped back to Canada. No animal products or by-products shall be returned to Canada unless authorized by Canadian Food Inspection Agency's (CFIA) Animal Health and Production Division (AHDP). Consideration to authorize a return will be given only to Canadian animal products or by-products in there original sealed, clean and undamaged containers. Each case will be evaluated on its own merit.

If the product has been released for sale or public distribution, it may not be able to return to Canada.

The application with all documentation must be sent to the appropriate AHPD area import officer.

The decision on the application will be sent to the applicant by the AHDP area import officer. The AHDP area import officer will also forward a copy of the authorization form to the Import Service Centre of the port of landing for processing. The applicant is responsible for forwarding a copy of the authorization form to the Custom broker.
