Canadian Rural Partnership
Rural Team Northwest Territories
Welcome to the Canadian Rural Partnership Rural Team NWT Home Page!
The Canadian Rural Partnership is an initiative led by the Government of Canada in partnership with other levels of government and non-governmental partners across the country. The Partnership works with citizens from rural, remote and northern Canada to improve their quality of life. In the NWT, territorial and federal departments and agencies are key partners.
Team members work together to:
- Coordinate the Partnership initiative in NWT. This includes conducting an ongoing dialogue with citizens, helping to evaluate Canadian Rural Partnership Pilot Projects and sharing 'lessons learned' and participating in outreach activities to increase awareness of government resources available to communities.
- Identify and communicate community priorities for action in NWT.
- Explore opportunities for federal and territorial government departments to work together on community priorities.
- Influence government policy decisions related to the priorities that communities have identified, and provide a northern perspective as new programs are designed.
Team NWT Priorities
- During 2001-02, Canadian Rural Partnership Team NWT focused on the priority of providing more targeted opportunities, programs and services for youth.
- For 2002-03, the team members will combine their resources to strengthen community capacity building, leadership and skill development
