Team
Overview
Rural Team Yukon plays a role in coordinating the Canadian
Rural Partnership and facilitating the Federal
Framework for Action in the Yukon, as well as in advocating for Yukon
community priorities in Ottawa. The Team shares information about what
each department and organization is doing and explores ways in which government
and communities can support rural community development in a more collaborative
manner, in order to ensure:
- programs and services are delivered more efficient and effective (i.e. services are delivered according to the clients needs, and overlap and duplication of services and programs are reduced)
- program and service gaps are identified and addressed
- strong relationships or networks that can provide access to additional resources and expertise
- a strengthened relationship between federal and territorial governments that can lead to further collaboration
Team Priorities for Action
Rural Team Yukon has identified a number of priority areas through the Rural
Dialogue and the Yukon Priorites Survey and formed working groups to develop specific actions to respond to these priorities. Working groups have been created in the following areas:
Community Partnership Initiative
Capacity Building
Youth
Economic Development
Team Structure
Rural Team Yukon includes members from federal and territorial departments, as well as from First Nations and municipal governments and from community organizations. The Team has adopted a federal-territorial co-chair structure to assist the Regional Advisors and provide additional leadership and resources to Team activities. The Team has also established working groups to lead on specific Team priorities and initiatives. The Rural Secretariat provides support to the Team in coordinating Canadian Rural Partnership activities in the Yukon.
