how to apply for a community gaming grant

Are you a charitable or community organization interested in applying for funds generated from BCLC games? The BC government, through the Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch, is responsible for distributing community gaming grants.

In fiscal 2006/07, government directed $142.4 million of BCLC net income to 6,000 organizations around the province.

There are two grant programs available to eligible charitable and community organizations - Bingo Affiliation and Direct Access. To be eligible for these grants, organizations must be non-profit and driven by volunteers, and funds must be used within BC for the direct delivery of programs that benefit the local community.

  • Bingo Affiliation Organizations receive grants in return for volunteer activities in the facility and in the community. Each commercial bingo hall is represented by an association consisting of all organizations affiliated with that hall.
  • Direct Access Organizations receive grants for direct delivery to their communities of approved programs in one of five sectors: Arts, culture and sport; the environment; human and social services; public safety; and parent advisory councils and district parent advisory councils.
