SEED

School is an essential place of learning—so is the workplace. There is no substitute for hands-on job experience as preparation for eventual integration into the working world.
Through the SEED Program, work opportunities are available to students like you to help you gain valuable work experience and enhance employment prospects upon completion of your studies. Under the SEED Program, there are three components:

Summer Employment Placements

These summer jobs for students are placements within provincial and municipal governments, First Nation Communities, and in non-profit organizations. Interested? Put your name in our database, along with your education and skills. You can then be matched up with suitable opportunities within these groups.

Eligibility
A participant must:
  • be a resident of New Brunswick or a First Nation Community in New Brunswick
  • be eligible to work in Canada
  • be a full-time student who will be attending a post-secondary institution in the fall
  • be registered with the Provincial Student Referral Office

The placement:

  • must end no later than the last Friday of August
  • will normally be given to a participant who has completed the 14-hour Safety Start Program

Guidelines
A placement duration is for:

  • a minimum of 35 hours per week to a maximum of 40 hours per week
  • a minimum of eight weeks per year A Summer Employment Placement

Apply for a summer placement early! Pick up and complete a SEED Summer Employment Placements form, available at any Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour Office, Human Resource Service Centre, New Brunswick University, New Brunswick Community College, High School or Service New Brunswick Centre.
