New Entrance-Ways/Driveways
|
|
Before getting a new driveway culvert, you must first apply for an
entrance way permit.
Applications for Entrance Ways can be obtained through the
Department of
Community and Cultural Affairs, or by contacting the
Department’s Capital
Projects Division in your county.
However, if you are purchasing a piece of property along an arterial or seasonal highway,
the Minister of Transportation and Public Works must first approve access to the
highway in accordance with the regulations under the
Roads Act
If you are buying a parcel of land that is not an approved building lot,
it is important to ensure that the property has safe access for an entrance
way on a provincial highway. Failure to ensure safe access could mean that you
may not be able to develop the property. The enforcement of regulations for safe
highway access falls under the
Roads Act Highway Access Regulations.
To obtain an entrance way permit for an arterial or seasonal highway, or to determine safe
access to a provincial highway, contact the
Traffic Operations Section of the
Capital Projects Division
If you require:
-
a farm field entrance along all Provincial Highways when there is
no building or subdivision involved;
-
an entrance way along an arterial highway
for commercial, industrial or institutional uses; or
-
an entrance way along all Provincial
Highways within Municipalities that administer their own
Official Plans and Bylaws.
Contact a Property Development Officer of the
Department of Community and Cultural Affairs for all other entrance ways for development
and subdivision applications not included in the above.
