MINISTER ANDY MITCHELL WILL MAKE TWO ANNOUNCEMENTS DURING HIS VISIT TO QUEBEC

Ottawa, September 7, 2005 - During a visit to Quebec on September 8 and 9, the federal Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, the Honourable Andy Mitchell, will make two major federal-provincial announcements resulting from the implementation in Quebec.

In the morning, Mr. Mitchell, accompanied by the provincial MNA for Rouyn-Noranda-Témiscamingue and Parliamentary Assistant to the Quebec Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Daniel Bernard, will announce major investments in scientific progress and innovation in the dairy and maple products industries.

In the afternoon, Mr. Mitchell will join the Quebec Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Laurent Lessard, the provincial MNA for Rouyn-Noranda-Témiscamingue, Daniel Bernard, and the Vice-Chair of the Conseil pour le développement de l'agriculture du Québec and President of the Fédération régionale de l'UPA de Centre du Québec, Denis Bilodeau, to announce the National Water Supply Expansion Program.
