Use the Farming Income and the CAIS Program Harmonized Guide-RC4408-05 as a step-by-step tool to help ensure that all areas of your form are completed correctly. If you would like to provide more information but there is no space for it on the T1273, please use the T1275 - CAIS Additional Information & Adjustment Request Form for 2005. Submit this form directly to the CAIS Administration. Complete this form:
If you are involved in a partnership, you must complete a separate application and report 100% of the farming operation - not just your percentage. Indicate your percentage of the partnership on page 5 of the T1273, and the CAIS Administration will calculate your share of the payment. If you are involved in crop or livestock share, report only your share on the harmonized form. Please complete the Additional Livestock Information on page 8, if this applies to you. The CAIS program uses the information in this part of Section 8 to adjust your reference margins where necessary, and to account for structural changes that occur in your farming operation. If you do not complete this section your livestock operation will be structured down, and this will have an impact on the calculation of your benefits. Report bales in terms of weight, preferably tonnes. If you report bales only in units or weight per unit, the system may use a default weight, which may not be accurate in your case.
“Unseedable acres” refers to acres you intended to seed, but were unable to because the land was either too wet or too dry. Do not report pasture, wasteland, yard site, or summer fallow acres as “Unseedable acres.” If you participated in CAIS last year, take your 2005 starting inventory amounts directly from the ending inventory amounts listed on your 2004 Calculation of Program Benefits (COB). The CAIS Administration will compare your 2004 ending inventory amounts with your 2005 starting inventory amounts. If the amounts do not match, the CAIS Administration will use your 2004 ending amounts when calculating your benefit.
Where codes are required, please use the applicable code lists to find the correct code. Some codes are added or changed each year, so please use the current year code lists.
