  • Selected Upcoming Food Trade Shows of interest to Canadian Agri-Food, Fish and Seafood Sectors AAFC 2006
  • 2006 International Business Symposium, September 12-14, 2006, Fredericton, N.B.
    The Province of New Brunswick is pleased to host the 2006 International Business Symposium from September 12-14, 2006 in Fredericton. The goal of the Symposium is to assist New Brunswick businesses build awareness of emerging market opportunities in Europe. Federal Senior Trade Commissioners (STCs) representing the Canadian missions in Belgium, Finland, France, Ireland, Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom are attending, and will conduct one-on-one meetings to discuss your business interests in the EU. We welcome your participation on Day 2 of the program and invite New Brunswick businesses to attend the presentations, luncheon and one-on-one meetings scheduled for Wednesday, September 13, 2006.   • Healthy You Health and Wellness Show, September 15-17, 2006, Halifax, Nova Scotia
    The Healthy You Health and Wellness Show is new, world class and unique to Atlantic Canada. The exposition and conference is in keeping with the balance and variety in life that Nova Scotians enjoy.   • Export Seminar, Friday, September 15, 2006, Saint-Quentin, N.B.
    In cooperation with the New Brunswick Maple Syrup Association, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) will offer an export preparedness seminar on Friday, September 15, 2006 in Saint-Quentin, N.B, the Atlantic Canada Maple Capital. The participants will learn the basic requirements to exporting their products and the seminar is open to all agri-food, fish and seafood companies. If you are thinking of exporting and you want to know what to do and who to contact, the seminar will cover the steps to exporting such as researching a market, the importance of cultural differences, export financing, the logistics and legal aspects or international trade.   • Canadian Nutrition Labelling Workshop, September 27-28, Shediac, N.B.
    This workshop has been developed for food, seafood and beverage processors, as well as other organizations involved with the food processing industry (distributors, suppliers, consultants, agency people and educators). It will provide an efficient means for general managers, technical staff, marketing and sales staff and any other people in the industry to get up to speed on the implications of the new regulations. It will also be of value to people who will be working with the people that attended the in-depth event but do not require the technical training presented at the earlier workshop. The presenters will be Giselle Comeau and Gilles Gautreau, both from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. The workshop will be presented in French on September 27, 2006 and in English on September 28, 2006. A networking reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on the evening of September 27, 2006, for people attending either workshop.     Recruitment is underway for “Working a Trade Show from Both Sides of the Aisle” being held at the Capital Hotel, St. John’s, NL on Thursday, October 12 th, 2006. This session is being organized by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, in cooperation with the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters, and the Department of Innovation, Trade and Rural Development. Business owners recognize that tradeshows are an important and expensive marketing tool to showcase their products and services to existing and prospective customers. Barry Siskind, considered to be North America’s foremost trade show expert, will facilitate this interactive training session to help participants develop the skills and techniques needed to maximize return on investment when exhibiting at or attending trade shows.     Atlantic Canada agri-food, fish and seafood companies are invited to apply to participate in an upcoming Taste of Atlantic Canada Reception and Showcase to be held on Monday, October 30, 2006 at the Renaissance Orlando Resort in Orlando, Florida. This event is part of a Team Canada Atlantic Mission to Florida. The format of this evening’s event will consist of a private showcase exclusive to buyers and distributors from the Florida area and a stand-up reception showcasing Atlantic Canadian food products. Your product will be prepared and included in a menu that will be designed by highly qualified Chef Instructors from the Culinary Institute of Canada.
