  • A Framework for Environmental Learning and Sustainability in Canada
The Framework for Environmental Learning and Sustainability in Canada is a document inspired by the knowledge, experiences, and hopes of many Canadian educators and learners. It is the result of ideas expressed during a broad Consultation led by Environment Canada between 1999 and 2002.

  • Corporate Environmental Innovation (CEI) - Supporting Corporate Sustainability Leadership through the Market
Environment Canada's Corporate Environmental Innovation (CEI) initiative aims to accelerate innovation and improve environmental performance in the corporate sector by encouraging and supporting corporate sustainability leadership. Through collaboration with the private sector, academics, non-governmental organizations, and other government departments, CEI's goal is to encourage corporate sustainability leaders to keep leading and to help other companies see the benefit of following their example.

  • Environment Canada's Sustainable Development Strategy 2004-2006
Environment Canada's Sustainable Development Strategy 2004-2006 highlights, for Canadians, key commitments that the department will undertake over the next three years to further our sustainable development objectives, to participate in building a government-wide approach to sustainable development, and to address our international sustainable development agenda.

  • Making Transportation Sustainable: A Case Study of the Quebec City-Windsor Corridor
The environmental implications of growth in transportation, in particular road and air travel, are substantial. A very large portion of transportation activity in Canada occurs within an area known as the Quebec City-Windsor Corridor (QWC). This corridor contains roughly half of Canada's population and about 85% of the Quebec and Ontario populations; nearly all the major urban centres in these two provinces are located in the corridor. This report summarizes the results of a project to look at ways to achieve environmentally sustainable transportation in the QWC.

  • Sustainable Development: A Canadian Perspective
During August 26 - September 4, 2002, participants gathered in Johannesburg, South Africa, for the World Summit on Sustainable Development. This report was commissioned by the Government of Canada through the Earth Summit 2002 Canadian Secretariat as part of Canada's preparations for the Summit. This paper highlights some of Canada's considerable successes, speaks of some of the remaining challenges and explores some of the current efforts under way to meet those challenges.
