  • Phytorem - Potential Green Solutions for Metal Contaminated Sites
    Phytorem is a fully searchable database that includes extensive information on the ability of numerous plants to tolerate, accumulate and hyperaccumulate 19 different metals most commonly found at contaminated sites, listing 776 species of vascular plants from 39 countries with some level of extraction capacity. As well, there is some information on the remediation potential of some bryophytes, algal, fungal and bacterial species. Both English and French versions are available on the CD-ROMs

  • Sustainability of Biomass Utilization - Draft Summaries Anticipated Environmental Effects of Bioethanol Production from Lignocellulosic Waste Material and Criteria for Biodiesel Production Facilities
    The Guideline Report examines the potential environmental, social, and economic effects of possible future bioethanol production in Canada. It is intended to assist government agencies in the review of future project proposals. The draft Criteria Document addresses environmental and sustainability criteria for facilities producing biodiesel from biomass sources. It provides an overview of those aspects of biodiesel that would affect decisions about planning, design, and operation of biodiesel facilities in Canada.
