Japan's Kansai region, and its market of some of the world's 25 million wealthiest consumers, holds many possibilities for Canadian SMEs. While no one can argue that some of the lustre of Japan's pre-1990s "bubble economy" has made way for more realistic expectations of economic performance, the Kansai region continues to have a regional GDP larger than all of Canada!

This vibrant quality-conscious market stands ready as ever to adopt new and innovative products and services. One only needs to walk through the shopping arcades of Shinsaibashi, just outside the Consulate's door, to see how the latest and greatest products and designs from around the world are making their way to the Kansai. The Kansai region is home to some of the world's largest and best-known companies, including Matsushita (Panasonic), Sanyo, Sharp, Nintendo, and Asics. Yet the concentration of SMEs in the Kansai is also the highest of any region of Japan - making it a market ideally disposed to partnerships with similar-sized Canadian firms.

Check out the market information for your particular sector contained on this website, or contact us for a market prospect or key contact search. The Osaka Trade Commissioner Service is here to help you enter this vibrant market.
