Important Notice on Ruminant Slaughter Programs

Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada would like to inform industry that effective March 27, 2006 it will no longer be accepting applications for the Ruminant Slaughter Facility Assessment Assistance program or the Ruminant Slaughter Equity Assistance program.

These two ruminant slaughter programs were put in place as temporary measures to increase domestic slaughter capacity in response to the discovery of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy in Canada. This goal has been achieved and all funds made available under these programs have now been committed.
