Specialized Business Planning Services

Specialized Business Planning Services (SBPS) provides you with financial support to help with comprehensive business or succession planning. Through SBPS, you can access funds to help pay for the services of a consultant to develop detailed business plans for your farm operations, such as:

• Succession
• Expansion
• Marketing
• Human Resources
• Risk Management
• Diversification

You may receive a refund of up to 50 percent of the consultant's eligible costs for preparing the specialized plan. You may be eligible for the following over the life of the program (April 1, 2003 to March 31, 2008):

• up to $8,000 in funding for an individual applicant;
• up to $16,000 for two participants;
• up to $24,000 for three participants; and
• up to $25,000 for four or more participants.

Once you have completed your planning under Specialized Business Planning Services, you may wish to undertake a follow-up plan to assist you in keeping on track with your plan by reviewing goals and assumptions and by developing new strategies where necessary.

If you have not participated in the Farm Business Assessment program, you may wish to benefit from this program which provides initial financial planning prior to undertaking a comprehensive business plan under the Specialized Business Planning Services.
