Community Pasture Program

Main objectives include conservation of resource and utilization for grazing. Application form for NEW clients only - those who have never been allotted cattle in PFRA pastures. Current patrons will receive forms in the mail.

Application Deadline: November 1, 2004.

Canada-Alberta Farm Water Program (CAFWP)

The new program is jointly funded by the federal government and provincial government. Federal dollars are contributed through the recently signed Agriculture Policy Framework Implementation Agreement.

Application Deadline: Producers have until March 31, 2005, to complete their projects and until April 15, 2005 to submit their application. .

Shelterbelt Program

Works to enhance environmental sustainability and biodiversity through the use of shelterbelts and contributes to economic development by encouraging diversification in areas such as agroforestry.

Application Deadline for all provinces : March 15 of every year for delivery of tree seedlings that spring.

Shelterbelt Enhancement Program

This program is designed to reduce greenhouse gases through increased shelterbelt plantings on agricultural lands across the Prairies.

Application Deadline: September 30, 2004 for spring 2005 delivery.

Prairie Grain Roads Program (PGRP)

This program provides assistance to upgrade some of the municipal roads in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and the Peace River region of British Columbia and provincial highways in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and the Peace River region of British Columbia that are used for the transportation of grain.

National Programs delivered by PFRA

  • Greencover Canada Program: A five-year, $110 million Government of Canada initiative, is is expected to improve grassland management practices, protect water quality, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and enhance biodiversity and wildlife habitat.   • National Water Supply Expansion Program: The National Water Supply Expansion Program (NWSEP) is a four-year, $60-million initiative under the APF. The NWSEP supports the Environment element of the APF through the development, enhancement and protection of vital water resources to help address water constraints in agricultural areas of Canada.
