Planning and Assessment for Value-Added Enterprises

Step 4: Begin Planning

Once you have sent your application and proposal to the Agri-Renewal office, a program officer will review it. Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada will advise you within 30 days of receiving your proposal whether or not your project has been approved for funding.

When your proposal has been approved, you will receive a copy of your terms and conditions which must be signed and returned to the Agri-Renewal office in your area before work can begin. You can then feel free to sign the contract with your consultant and proceed with your project.

Payment Requirements

For start-up enterprises, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada needs to review and accept the feasibility assessment before it will make any payments under Planning and Assessment for Value-Added Enterprises. Once the assessment has been completed, be sure to send it to Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada for its review prior to paying your consultant.

For all value-added enterprises, when Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada receives the completed business plan, a program officer will review it to ensure that it has met program requirement.

Upon notification from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada that the work has been approved, you are then responsible for paying your consultant. You will be reimbursed from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada after you have sent in a paid invoice for the work completed. Please note you will not be paid for any work performed prior to the date of the approved proposal.

Once you have completed your planning under Planning and Assessment for Value-Added Enterprises, you may wish to undertake a follow-up plan to assist you in keeping track with your plan by reviewing goals and assumptions, and by developing new strategies where necessary.
