Purveyor's Pride Violates Meat Inspection Act

On January 23, 2006, Purveyor’s Pride entered a guilty plea in provincial court in Edmonton, Alta., to a single count of violating the Meat Inspection Regulations.

Purveyor’s Pride was fined $1,000 for sending or conveying a meat product from one province to another that was not prepared or stored in a registered establishment as per the Meat Inspection Regulations.

The CFIA is responsible for enforcing a variety of federal legislation including the Meat Inspection Regulations and its regulations. It protects consumers by contributing to food safety, the protection of plants and the health of animals in Canada.
