The following list includes some common plants that are prohibited entry into Canada under the Plant Protection Act and Regulations. Please note that all soil and related matter (including clay, silt, sand, soil minerals, humus, compost, earthworm castings, muck, plant litter and debris) is prohibited from all off-continent sources. This list of commodities may change without notice due to a pest infestation. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that you contact the local office of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency for further information, and for the import requirements of plants not on this list, plants from the US, cereals and forestry products. Also, information on regulated commodities can be obtained from the Automated Import Requirement System (AIRS).
