bullet CFIA Laboratory - Ottawa, Ontario
(Laboratory Services Division East)

Services include testing for drug residues, drug contamination, drugs at medicating levels, additives, trace elements, heavy or toxic metals, mycotoxins and other adulteration of feeds; microscopy for the identification and estimation of quantity of ingredients, adulteration and contaminants; and tests for isolation and identification of microbial pathogens. The laboratory also develops new and improved testing methods; provides scientific and technical support for the accreditation of private labs for feed analysis, including a proficiency testing program; and evaluates the testing methods and results described in submissions for approval of new animal drugs, feed ingredients, and registered products, and in proposals for new or revised national and international standards.

 

bullet CFIA Laboratory - Calgary, Alberta
(Laboratory Services Division West)
This laboratory provides supports for the CFIA’s Feeds Programs in the area of pesticide residues and environmental contaminants. Services include testing, the development of methods to meet new testing requirements, and the provision of scientific advice for program development and harmonization of methodologies.
