Transport Gaétan Pellerin Inc. Issued $5,000 Fine

On June 16, 2006, Transport Gaétan Pellerin Inc. of St. Paulin was found guilty of one count of violating the Health of Animals Regulations.

On April 22,2005, Transport Gaétan Pellerin Inc. had transported by motor vehicle a swine that by reason of infirmity, illness, injury, fatigue or any other cause could not be transported without undue suffering, in violation of subsection 138(2)(a) of the Health of Animals Regulations C.R.C., c. 296.

Judge Dionne of the Court of Quebec fined the company $5,000, and ordered it to pay the fine within 12 months. The decision was handed down at the Rivière-du-Loup courthouse on June 16, 2006.
