ALLERGY ALERTUNDECLARED MILK PROTEIN IN VARIOUS BOSTON BAY FOODS BRAND PRODUCTSOTTAWA, April 20, 2006 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Boston Bay Foods Inc. are warning people with allergies to milk protein not to consume the affected Boston Bay Foods brand products described below. These products contain milk protein which is not declared on the label. The following Boston Bay Foods brand products, bearing best before dates up to and including 11 MA (May 11, 2006) are affected by this alert. This code is located on the plastic closure.
These products have been distributed in the province of Quebec only. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products. Consumption of this these products may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to milk protein. The distributor, Boston Bay Foods Inc., St-Laurent, Quebec, is voluntarily recalling the affected products from the marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
