UPDATE - ALLERGY ALERTUNDECLARED PEANUT PROTEIN IN CERTAIN MISBIS BRAND CHOCOLATE AND CONFECTIONERY PRODUCTS FROM TURKEYRelated Alerts: 2006-08-04 | 2006-008-01 OTTAWA, August 4, 2006 - The public warning issued on August 1, 2006, has been expanded to include additional information on product distribution.The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning people with allergies to peanuts not to consume Misbis brand chocolate and confectionery products described below. The affected products may contain peanut protein which is not declared on the label. All codes and lots of the following Misbis products are affected by this alert:
These products imported from Turkey have been distributed in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta and British Columbia. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products. Consumption of these products may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to peanut protein. The importer is voluntarily recalling the affected products from the marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
