Medicating Ingredient Brochures Update - Dimetridazole

May 4, 2004

MIB #33 (Dimetridazole) deleted from the Compendium of Medicating Ingredients Brochure (CMIB).

On August 23, 2003, Health Canada declared Dimetridazole a banned drug and has since revoked all products with Drug Identification Numbers (DINs) for Dimetridazole. Therefore at the request of Health Canada, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency has deleted the MIB #33 for Dimetridazole from the CMIB.

Consequently, Dimetridazole can no longer be used in livestock feeds in Canada and any existing feeds containing dimetridazole should be removed and disposed of according to municipal and provincial regulations.
