Company Fined $9,000 for Improper Use of Federal Registration Number

Isabelle Inc, a business located in St Michel de Napierville, pleaded guilty to three counts of violating subsection 56(7) of the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Regulations. Isabelle Inc. had asked another company to use a federal registration number to mark potatoes processed in an establishment other than the one to which the number had been assigned.

On January 23, 2004, Justice Jacques Rancourt of the Court of Québec fined Isabelle Inc $3,000 for each of the three counts. The company has three months to pay the $9,000 penalty.
