Calgary Company Fined For Illegal Meat Shipment From Alberta to B.C.

On April 14, 2004, Core-Mark International entered a guilty plea in Calgary Provincial Court to one count of violating the Meat Inspection Act and was fined $3,500.

On Jan. 16, 2003, Core-Mark International of Calgary shipped two cases of sausage rolls to its operation in Richmond B.C. Only federally registered establishments are allowed to send meat products between provinces.

The CFIA takes food safety seriously and inspection helps to continue Canada’s excellent reputation domestically and internationally as having a safe and high-quality food supply.
