ALLERGY ALERT

UNDECLARED SOY PROTEIN IN GASPESIEN BRAND COOKED HAM

MONTREAL, February 19, 2004 - Provigo Inc. is warning people with allergies to soy protein not to consume Gaspesien Brand Cooked Ham. The affected products contain soy protein which is not declared on the label. This alert is of concern to those individuals who have allergies to soy protein.

The affected product, Gaspesien Cooked Ham is sold in packages of variable weights bearing UPC code beginning with 255175 and establishment legend Canada 141. Only products bearing best before dates of 04FE18, 04MR03 and 04MR12 are affected.

Provigo Inc is voluntarily recalling the affected products from the marketplace. These products have been distributed only in Quebec.

Consumption of these products may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to soy protein. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products.

The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
