The following information was transmitted to the news media by the CFIA on March 12, 2004, on behalf of Multi-Marques.

HEALTH HAZARD ALERT

GLASS PARTICLES IN POM AND SUPER C 100% WHOLE WHEAT ENGLISH MUFFINS

Laval, Québec March 12, 2004 - Multi-Marques, a wholly owned division of Canada Bread Company Limited is warning consumers not to consume POM New York New York 100% whole wheat English muffins and Super C 100% whole wheat English muffins as they may contain glass particles.

The affected products, POM New York New York brand 100 % whole wheat English muffins, bearing UPC 61077 77831 and Super C 100% whole wheat English muffins, bearing UPC 6260910349, are sold in 340 g packages. The best before date affected by this alert is Mr 14. The best before date appears on the end closure of the products.

Multi-Marques, Laval, Québec, has initiated a recall of these two products from the market place. The products are known to be distributed in Quebec only. There has been no reported injury.

The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.

If consumers have any concerns about either of these products, they can return the product to the store where it was purchased it for a full refund or product replacement. Consumers with concerns or questions about the recall should call 1-800-590-7246.
