ALLERGY ALERTUNDECLARED SULPHITES IN E.G. BRAND LILY FLOWERSOTTAWA, August 13, 2004 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning people with sensitivities to sulphites not to consume E.G. brand Lily Flowers described below. The affected product contains sulphites which are not declared on the label. This alert is of concern to those individuals who have sensitivities to sulphites or who are asthmatic. The affected product, E.G. brand dried Lily Flowers, a product of China, is sold in a 220 g package bearing UPC 8 38090 00306 5. The importer, Every Green International, Scarborough, Ontario, is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace. The affected product has been distributed in British Columbia and Ontario. Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with sensitivities to sulphites. Sulphites may trigger an asthmatic reaction in people who have asthma. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.
