ALLERGY ALERTUNDECLARED EGG AND SOY IN KISHKA, A SAUSAGE, SOLD BY PERLS MEAT PRODUCTS LTD.OTTAWA, October 14, 2004 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning people with allergies to egg or soy protein not to consume Kishka, a sausage, sold by Perls Meat Products Ltd. The affected product contains egg and soy proteins which are not declared on the label. This alert is of concern to those individuals who have allergies to egg or soy protein. The Perls Meat Products Ltd., Kishka, is sold in refrigerated trays weighing 0.540 kg and bearing UPC 0 55925 12434 8. All Best Before dates up to and including 04/10/24 are affected. The manufacturer, Perl's Meat Products Ltd., Toronto, Ontario is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace. This product has been distributed in Ontario. Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to egg or soy protein. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
