FOOD, FEED AND SEED PRODUCTS CONTAINING U.S. CORNNovember 18, 2004
The purpose of this advisory is to inform all parties of the TERMINATION OF THE REQUIREMENT FOR STARLINK TESTING DOCUMENTS for U.S. whole grain corn imported into Canada. The CFIA has reviewed the StarLink-related pre-entry border program and determined that further requirements for testing documentation is not necessary. This decision is based on U.S. information showing a significant decline of StarLink in whole grain corn as well as a greater than 99% compliance rate by importers to provide negative documentation. Please note that StarLink corn remains prohibited for import to or use in Canada. The CFIA will discontinue the negative StarLink testing requirements for imports of U.S. whole-grain corn.
