The Manitoba Crop Diversification Centre (MCDC) is a three way partnership between an industry consortium, MHPEC (Manitoba Horticulture Productivity Enhancement Centre Inc.) and the governments of Canada and Manitoba. Activities at the MCDC sites include testing and demonstration of current irrigation technologies, field testing of crop performance under irrigated and dryland conditions. MCDC also carries out the evaluation and demonstration of speciality and niche crops that offer higher value diversification opportunities, good market potential, and value adding possibilities. Program delivery mechanisms consist of field demonstrations, publication of fact sheets and bulletins, and presentation of seminars and courses for producer training in partnership with provincial, federal and industry initiatives. Much of the Centre's work is carried out in co-operation with outside agencies, groups and individuals. The Centre provides a variety of assistance for research and demonstration activities, including technical support and use of its facilities and land.
