Prosecution Bulletins - 2003

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is responsible for enforcing a number of Acts of Parliament in order to deliver inspection and related services for consumers and industry that contribute to food safety, animal health and plant protection.

As part of its ongoing effort to increase awareness of CFIA’s role in encouraging compliance with the various Acts and Regulations, the CFIA issues prosecution bulletins when a conviction is obtained.

December 2003

• December 10 - Court Fines A & C Quinlan Fisheries Limited $1,000 for Illegal Labelling of Fish and Orders Forfeiture of Product Valued at $4,250

• December 5 - B.C. Company Fined $1,500 for Selling Coconut Juice with Undeclared Sulphites

November 2003

• November 10 - Court Fines Skipper Fisheries Limited $1,500 for Illegal Labelling of Fish and Orders Forfeiture of Product Valued at $7,900

• November 7 - Court Fines West Shore Fisheries $ 2,000 for Illegal Export of Clam Meat and Orders Forfeiture of Product Valued at $ 3,750

• November 4 - Court Fines Carol Gaudreault $3,000 for Illegal Export of Clams in the Shell and Orders Forfeiture of Product Valued at $10,540

October 2003

• October 31 - Westfair Foods Fined $100,000 for Re-labeling and Altering Meat Product Dates

• October 23 - Court Fines Thico Enterprises Limited $3000 and orders product forfeiture

• October 22 - Maple Syrup Producer Fined $3,000 for Selling Maple Syrup Containing Paraformaldehyde Residues

• October 20 - Vancouver Company Fined $1,500 For Unlawfully Moving Imported Fish

• October 3 - Millstream Flour Mills (1991) Corporation Pleads Guilty to Violating the Food and Drugs Act

• September 26 - Marché Blais Inc. Fined $1,000 for Violating the Fish Inspection Regulations

• September 19 - Distributions Paul-Émile Dubé Ltée Fined $750 for Violating Meat Inspection Act

• September 19 - A. L. Pray & Son Potato Co. Ltd. Fined $2,000 for Violating the Canada Agricultural Products Act
