Alimentation Pierre Roy (2000) Inc. Fined $15,000

Alimentation Pierre Roy  (2000) Inc. of St Constant has pleaded guilty to three counts of replacing labels on meat product packages with new labels that had a more recent packing date.

Committed in December 2002, the offences violated the Food and Drugs Act, which stipulates that food must not be labelled in a manner that is false, misleading or deceptive or is likely to create an erroneous impression regarding its character, value, quantity, composition, merit or safety.

The Court of Quebec ordered the company to pay a $15,000 fine within six months. The decision was handed down on October 19, 2005, at the Montreal courthouse.
