ALLERGY ALERT

UNDECLARED SULPHITES IN GOLDEN RAISINS

OTTAWA, April 1, 2005 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning people with sensitivities to sulphites not to consume Golden Raisins described below. The affected products contain sulphites which are not declared on the label. This alert is of concern to those individuals who have sensitivities to sulphites.

Only the Golden Raisins / Raisins Doré packages which do not clearly declare sulphites are affected by this alert. These affected products were sold at the following stores and in variable sized packages:

The affected products have been distributed in Quebec only.

Consumption of these products may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with sensitivities to sulphites. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products.

The CFIA is continuing the food safety investigation.
