ALLERGY ALERTUNDECLARED SULPHITES IN RED CLUB BRAND GOLDEN RAISINSOTTAWA, April 22, 2005 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning people with sensitivities to sulphites not to consume Red Club brand Golden Raisins. The affected products contain sulphites which are not declared on the label. This alert is of concern to those individuals who have sensitivities to sulphites. The following products are affected by this alert: Red Club brand Golden Raisins, 200 g package, UPC 6 20194 10224 5, Red Club brand Golden Raisins, 454 g package, UPC 6 20194 10243 6. The manufacturer, Red Club Products Ltd., Mississauga, Ontario, is voluntarily recalling these products from the marketplace. The affected products have been distributed in the Greater Toronto Area. Consumption of these products may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with sensitivities to sulphites. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
