ALLERGY ALERTUNDECLARED EGG AND WHEAT IN SERAFINA’S FINE FOODS BRAND RAVIOLI PRODUCTSOTTAWA, November 18, 2005 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Serafina’s Fine Foods are warning people with allergies to egg protein or wheat not to consume Serafina’s Fine Foods brand ravioli products described below. The affected products contain egg and wheat which are not declared on the label. The following Serafina’s Fine Foods brand ravioli products, sold frozen in 400 g packages, are affected by this alert:
These products have been distributed in British Columbia. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products. Consumption of these products may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to egg protein or wheat. The manufacturer, Serafina’s Fine Foods, Qualicum Bay, British Columbia, is voluntarily recalling the affected products from the marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
