Red-Haired Pine Bark Beetle - Hylurgus ligniperda


adult -Steve Passoa, US Forest Service, Morgantown, WV This beetle was discovered for the first time near Rochester New York in the late 1990's. It is native to Europe where it is a pest of pine trees.
