PART 8 - LIVESTOCK AND POULTRY CARCASS GRADING FEES

Interpretation

1. (1) The definitions in this subsection apply in this Part.

"Act" means the Canada Agricultural Products Act. (Loi)

"grader" means a grader appointed under subsection 13(1) of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency Act. (classificateur)

"Regulations" mean the Livestock and Poultry Carcass Grading Regulations. (Règlement)

(2) Unless otherwise provided in this Part, other words and expressions have the same meaning as in the Act and the Regulations.

Payment

2. The fees set out in the table to this Part shall be paid

(a) on receipt of an invoice from the Agency; or

(b) before the service is provided, if the person has previously failed to pay a fee set out in this Notice or in the Livestock Carcass Grading Fees Order.

3. If two or more persons request grading for a hog, veal, ovine, bison or beef carcass, an equal portion of the applicable fee set out in items 1 and 2 of the table to this Part is payable by each of those persons.

1. If hog carcasses are graded by a grader at the request of a person referred to in subsection 3(2) of the Regulations, or if the application of grade names to hog carcasses is monitored by a grader,  
  (a) for the grading or monitoring, in the case of an establishment where the rate of grading is not more than 250 carcasses per hour $13 per quarter-hour or part thereof
  (b) including any monitoring, in the case of an establishment where the rate of grading is more than 250 carcasses per hour $0.22 per carcass
2. If veal, ovine, bison or beef carcasses are graded by a grader at the request of a person referred to in subsection 3(2) of the Regulations, or if the application of grade names to veal, ovine, bison or beef carcasses is monitored by a grader,  
  (a) in the case of veal, ovine and bison carcasses, for the grading or monitoring $13 per quarter-hour or part thereof
  (b) in the case of beef carcasses  
  (i) for the grading $1.25 per carcass
  (ii) for the monitoring $13 per quarter-hour or part thereof
3. (1) For the application of grade names prescribed by the Regulations to poultry carcasses in an establishment that has an average weekly slaughter volume of  
  (a) less than 5,000 $750 per year
  (b) 5,000 to 14,999 $1,000 per year
  (c) 15,000 to 29,999 $1,250 per year
  (d) 30,000 to 74,999 $1,500 per year
  (e) 75,000 or more $2,000 per year
  (2) For the inspection of graded processed poultry for the purposes of monitoring the grade names applied to poultry carcasses $44 per hour
