CBC NEWS: MARKETPLACE » FILES - BY SUBJECT

Marketplace has broadcast more than 2,000 stories over more than 30 seasons. We've gathered just about every story the program has done over the past six years on this website.

We've divided those stories into nine categories to help make it easier for you to find them. Those categories are listed below.

If you still can't find what you're looking for, try the CBC.ca's search engine. The results will list Marketplace stories as well as stories from other CBC departments, including radio, television and the Internet.

  • Your Car: This section includes stories about car and small truck safety, airbags, tires, fuel prices, insurance, elderly drivers, peeling paint, used cars, etc.
  • The Environment: This section was begun during the 2000-2001 season. Included are stories about such topics as wind power and 'good' wood.
  • Your Food: This section deals with issues surrounding the food we eat — from food labels to organics to best before dates to food additives, even drinking coffee — "with a conscience."
  • Health and Safety: Our largest section, here you'll find stories about everything from accutane to air quality in arenas, dangerous dogs, herbal remedies, drinking water quality, and lead in toys...
  • Your Home: Stuck with Urea Formaldehyde Foam Insulation? You'll find our story on that issue here. You'll also find stories about what to avoid at garage sales, home insurance, pressure treated lumber concerns, toilet tanks and the return of the wood stove.
  • Travel and Recreation: Under this topic, you'll find stories such as whether air travel is now a monopoly in Canada, airline passenger rights, and if deregulation has left small and medium sized airports exposed when it comes to emergency services.
  • Scams: A few of these come to light every now and then — and Marketplace tries to keep you abreast of them. Stories we've aired in the past have dealt with insurance fraud, fake antiques, fake diamonds, charity scams and "Cuban" cigars.
  • Your Finances: How do you know whether that check out scanner in your local supermarket is accurate? Check this section of the Marketplace website for information on that are more, including: are you giving to charity or a telemarketer?, how do you pick a financial advisor?, how do you make sure that pre-authorized debits will stop when you want them to?, and how do you prepare for small claims court?
  • Services: As governments across the country deregulate and download, the services we depend on are changing. Electricity is one that is rapidly changing. We also look at other services, like mystery shoppers.
