Functional Foods and Nutraceuticals

Regulations

Regulating the growing functional food and nutraceutical industry is important to maintain the high standard of food safety and quality that Canadians have come to expect. Health Canada regulates the functional food and nutraceutical industry and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) enforces these regulations. Within Health Canada the Health Products and Food Branch of the Food Directorate regulates functional foods and the Natural Health Products Directorate regulates nutraceuticals and other natural health products.
